DIY LED NEON Pixel Mapped Tubes

I've always believed that the art we create, especially if powered by technology, should reflect our humanity and creativity. That's why I am beginning to work on a lighting and dance project that I call AI to REALITY. It's not just about imitating what we see online, but breathing life into it. The concept comes from my ability to look at an AI generated photo and say: Oh, I can create that! I'll be building a total of 8 of these 5' tall led neon tubes with my WS2812 pixel strips.

LED Wall Interactive Art

November 2023 

This is my first interactive art design using an LED Video Wall that I created using WS2812 pixel mappable lights. To make the interactive content, I created a color texture in Touchdesigner through a GLSL comp node with a couple lines of code. The color splat is referenced to parameters of midi data from the mouse position and force/ acceleration. I then used NDI to output into my pixel mapping software ELM to control the lights.

Touch Designer Integration

August 2023 

I am starting to use touch designer to integrate audio reactive gpu particles to a video input. I'm looking to create interactive dance media that can be controlled by both the dancer in motion via midi data as well as the audio. These GPU particle nodes will work perfectly for my pixel mapped lights because of the fact that it is not resolution dependent. The transfer of color and light will follow the dancer wonderfully.

Live Demonstration of Pixel Mapping

Here I dive into how I've setup my live pixel mapping, the workflow i use, including the Enttec ELM software, and how I take a live video feed from my iphone camera and directly import it into my ELM software that automatically distributes it to my lights. I have been creating VJ loops for my pixel mapping software, and now I can use live video as well! Join me as I walkthrough the very mini light curtain I could setup for your wedding!
